​New York’s Best Artisan Women Bakers

We just finished a shoot of a new gift basket for our  New York Inspired Collection. As we were gathering the products to make Big Apple Artisan Gourmet Basket, we tasted each and every product as we always do. Yum! We also discovered that the artisans behind the products in this  New York Inspired Basket were all New York based women entrepreneurs who had followed their passions and created not only outstanding products but successful companies.

Let me introduce them to you. As you review our New York inspired Collection, you will see weoften include Laurie and Sons’ toffee. Laurie works with her three sons in East Harlem. Winnersof numerous awards, this Mother and her three sons continue to innovate and make scrumptious flavor combos of toffee with carefully selected ingredients every season. We especially love the Sea Salt, not the most unusual, but our favorite. How can you not like dark chocolate covered toffee sprinkled with Sea Salt? A perfect ending to a dinnerparty with another glass of pinot noir.

We discovered Small Batch Bakery two years ago. Since then, Anna Gordon’s cookies have appeared in many of our  New York Inspired Baskets. Anna attended the Institute of Culinary Education. Shortly after graduating, she opened her bakery in Brooklyn. In this  New York Inspired gift, we included temptingly delicious molasses ginger and brown butter sugar cookies. You will find another of Anna’s cookies in our  New York Inspired Baskets: Oat Chocolate Chunk. They all taste just like “homemade” cookies. Ready for a glass of milk?

A challenge to make a gluten free cookie as good as the cookies Shira Berk was selling in the café of her daughter’s

school led to the founding of Goodie Girl Cookie Company. Shira Berk says she traded her high heels and a corner office for a spatula and oven. We are happy she did. Our favorite gluten free cookies are chocolate crème, slim mints and double chocolate chip cookies. You can find all three in our  New York Inspired collection.
